Hi, I'm Penni...

I am a college graduate with a BFA in Mass Media (video emphasis). I used to write for my hometown newspaper, before the economy took a turn for the worse. While there, I wrote a weekly NASCAR column, among other things. I am a self-professed Kahne fan. I love to write and read. I love countdowns.

And...

I can be indecisive at times, but who isn't. I enjoy going to races and visiting new states and cities. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I am addicted to Twitter, Google (anything), Facebook, & playing the card game Phase 10. I get bored really easily.

Congrats & Thoughts (part 2)

[nocrosspost]Well, the 2009 season is officially over.

It feels like yesterday that it just started and I was hoping for the best for Kasey Kahne. The best happened to be 2 wins, including a road course win (a first), and making the Chase.

All three 2009 NASCAR Champions have been “crowned” and congrats to them.

To continue with Kasey Kahne and his mediocre season…Yes, he won two races (Sonoma and fall Atlanta). Yes, he made the Chase for the 2nd time in his career. Yes, he actually looked decent early on in the season. But other than that, it felt like a mediocre season. I am proud of him, who wouldn’t be. But…the madness that is happening at Richard Petty Motorsports is too much and I think it is affecting him on and off the track. It was announced Friday that Kasey will be looking around for other places to go once his contract ends at the end of the 2010 season. (Read the article here.)

How do I feel about it? Ecstatic! I know that being in Fords next year, he and his team members will, hopefully, run better, but I think getting away from RPM will be best. I can only hope he goes some place great where he can show his true ability. (Now if he doesn’t show them once he’s there, well then we know it wasn’t all RPM. LOL) I’d like to see him go to Stewart-Haas Racing and he’ll be teamed with his BFF TS! But at this point, I want some place different. I am not the only Kahne fan who hopes this.

Personally this season I was only able to attend one race, the spring Charlotte race, if you want to call that a race. Yes I still have harsh feelings towards it and its winner. The weekend (or week) itself was great, minus the morning I woke up in pain and went to the emergency room…in which I was diagnosed with a kidney stone. I missed the Nationwide race, which was cut short due to rain, and went to the cup race which was postponed until the next day, which was cut short due to rain. But the racing itself wasn’t the high point, it was hanging out with Hilary and Tara and also meeting Margaret, Kells, Jess, Martin (what happened to him, does anyone know?) and seeing Wyndi and Sam again.

I think if it wasn’t for my current situation, that I would have been able to get to another race, or two, in fact I did win a pair of tickets to the Indy race, but wasn’t able to go. Next year I hope to make it to a few races and maybe get back to Texas with Tara!

But before the season can officially be over with, it’s the awards in Las Vegas and Mr. Kahne will be HILARIOUS! Enough said![/nocrosspost]
